First Friday Update of 2021

Happy Friday Everyone!

Welcome back!  It is so incredible to see all our lovely students and awesome staff back after our winter break.  I’m hoping everyone got plenty of rest and had some quality time with their families.  As we begin this New Year I would like ensure that we are still following our Safety Exposure Plan to make sure anyone who enters our building to learn is safe and remains healthy.  We all are remembering to wash our hands, use proper hygiene and etiquette when sneezing or coughing and wearing a mask if that is what makes us comfortable.

I know that this year has been slightly different than years in the past but as we move forward together I know that we are going to have amazing learning experiences and fun times.  The Cultural Journeys classes have been involved in so many authentic land based activities like hide camp and salmon fishing.   They have made drums and art projects that show their learning and experiences on the land.

The Learning Expeditions team has been hard at work with media projects, reciprocity projects and podcasts.  The projects the students have completed are excellent and they were shared with families in our parent conferences held prior to the winter break.

Parents can also see the students learning on the SeeSaw platform that is being used for all students and classes.  If you are unsure of where to access this please chat with you teacher.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to call the school at 604-892-5904.

Message from our Vice Principal – Alysa Patching

Happy New Year St’a7mes Families!

I wanted to wish you well in this New Year and thank you for the warm welcome you have given me as your new Vice Principal this fall. I am so excited about our school; what we are accomplishing together in this year, in this shared time and place in our history.  I’ve been getting to know your children in all their giftings as healers, leaders, story tellers, builders, artists, hunters, teachers, speakers, dancers, singers, drummers, gatherers, and so much more. They have so much to contribute to our world. It makes me honored to be a part of it all.

Your children have seen me in the school in a variety of places: I’ve been supporting our CJ classes as a collaborative teacher and also teaching Phys. Ed to each of the CJ classes once a week. Another place I've been in classes is by running a Health and Wellness course Wednesday mornings in partnership with our counselor Kat Turczyk for our LEX cohort.  Parents - we may have met this year at drop off and pick up (I’m the one in the yellow raincoat waving to you in the morning), at a PAC meeting, or zoom meeting. I miss not having the opportunity to connect with more of you in person due to our COVID context and look forward to the day we are able to be together again at school wide community events. You have my best wishes for a prosperous and healthy 2021. Please feel free to connect with me over email: or at the school at 604.892.5904.

Most Sincerely,

Alysa Patching, Vice Principal, St’a7mes School
